Once upon a time, cable TV ruled. The only alternative to mainstream TV, this much coveted (in those days) service is fast dying a slow death. With millions of subscribers bailing ship for streaming services like Netflix. If you haven’t heard of Netflix yet, please tell me which rock you were hiding under.
Netflix – the TV Lover’s Savior
If you love movies (I mean, who doesn’t?), then you will love Netflix. With an array of free movies to choose from, you might as well say goodbye to boredom. Forever. That’s right, no matter how much you binge watch, you will never run out of good entertainment. And not just movies, Netflix has something for everyone. Cartoons for your precious little one, series shows for those who love to watch their favorite shows in installments (careful, Netflix has some addictive ones, a lot), and whatever else you may want to watch.
No more dull days in your calendar, even the rainy ones are made brighter by the spectacular shows on Netflix. What are you waiting for? Sign up for a subscription already!
What’s that you say? You don’t know how? Well, don’t worry. it’s as easy as pie. Here’s how.
How to create a Netflix Account
Ready to control your viewing options? I bet you are. This kind of freedom, especially when it comes to entertainment, is hard to contain. The caveat? The first month is free. I know right? Unbelievable. Here we go then.
1. Go to: www.netflix.com
Whether you plan on watching from your smart device or streaming from your Roku device, this is the starting point. You can download the app from your different devices later and go to the Netflix login page after you are done setting up your account.
2. Click on “Join Free For A Month”
This is the portal to entertainment paradise, whether you are in it for the free trial or you’ve made up your mind to subscribe. Of which I’m so sure you will when your trial ends. Netflix is that good.
3. Choose your plan
Netflix has 3 plans you can choose from:
- Basic. This $7.99 plan only allows you to stream from one device. Oh, and it doesn’t support HD.
- Standard. The “Standard” plan costs $9.99 dollars and allows you to stream on 2 devices at the same time (2 devices, 2 different programs, how cool is that?). This plan does support HD viewing but not Ultra HD.
- Premium. This, in my opinion, is the best option. For $11.99 you get to stream on 4, yes 4 devices (no more fighting for watching rights with the kids, yippee!), and for that crisp (dare I say ultra crisp?) viewing pleasure, you get to watch your shows in Ultra HD.
The best part is, your one-month free trial is the premium subscription.
4. Create your account
Simply fill in your email address and password and you are good to go. You will get an email to verify your account.
5. Select a payment option
Note, even if you are joining for the initial one month free, you still have to provide billing information. If you have a PayPal account and you prefer to use that, go ahead. I found it easier as I didn’t have to fill in every detail again. All I had to do was click on the PayPal icon and log in to PayPal to authorize the transaction. Easy as pie.
If it so happens that you don’t have a credit/debit card or a PayPal account, don’t sweat it. You can still join the world of the pleasantly entertained by purchasing a Netflix gift card and loading it up with cash. Talk about convenience.
6. Start your Netflix Membership
To do this, click on the “Start Membership” tab.
Once you have done that, you can start enjoying movies and whatever programming you enjoy, whenever you want to watch.
I Don’t Get it, What’s All the Hype about Netflix?
Let me enlighten you, after all, that’s why I’m here.
With Netflix, you control what you watch and when you watch it. No need to have FOMO, you will never miss out on your favorite shows.
No one determines what you watch. It’s all up to you.
You are in control of your entertainment with Netflix. This is especially true and important if you have children. With Netflix’s parental control settings, you can be at peace knowing Junior is not watching harmful content.
4. Affordable Entertainment
This is the big one. Even though Netflix is a subscription service, it’s practically like watching free movies. Talk about value for money.
5. Exclusive Programming
Netflix produces a lot of content exclusively for its subscribers. Pretty good content too.
A World of Entertainment Awaits – For the Whole Family
If you haven’t created a Netflix account yet, what are you waiting for? There’s a lot of entertainment waiting for you. Affordable entertainment for the whole family.
